Fun, Fun, Fun

Today marked the first meeting of the Scrappy Club.  We had 8 ladies who got their creative caps on as well as talked and laughed up a storm.  We made the 2 beach themed pages and there was some beautiful work that was done. One of the gals brought her 2 teen granddaughters who seemed to enjoy themselves.

We moved the card club from Monday July 23rd to Saturday July 28th at 1:00.  The next Scrappy Club is scheduled for Saturday August 18th at 1:00.

The next Scrappy Club theme is "Travel".  I will post pictures of the 2 pages when they are completed.

If you are reading this blog and considering a hobby, come and check us out on either date. Guaranteed you will have fun and leave with a sense of pride.

I have this next week off so I will be working on cards for the next meeting and designing the travel scrapbook pages.

"Polka-Dot" Birthday

How lucky we are to have this beautiful weather!  It's perfect.  Now if it just sticks around...........

Calling all school teachers........ You have summer off and you're probably wondering how you will fill that time. I've got a great solution........ start or continue your scrapbook and/or card making hobby. We could even discuss some bulletin board ideas for the upcoming year!

Come and check out the 2 clubs. They are easy and simply require you to assemble your projects.  All you will need is a tape runner which can be purchased for $4-5 at Walmart in the scrapbook section.

I am open to starting a weekend or evening card making group if there is enough interest. I have one gal on the list but need more.

Today I'm going to share my first of 3 creations for the Card Club which is scheduled to meet Monday July 23rd at 1.  The group requested a birthday card.  Last month, Close to My Heart offered an incentive paper pack called, "Dotty For You". At first I felt lukewarm about the pack wondering what I would do with it and I ended up with 3 packs.

The following cards were made with the "Dotty for You" paper pack, "Card Chatter-Birthday" and "Just for You" stamp sets. The card is a 3 fold card which is hard to see in a one dimensional photo.

Club meeting details

It's official! The Scrapbook Club will be meeting for the first time on Saturday June 30th at 1 PM.The 2 pages are simply examples of what you can create.  If you want to scrapbook photos of a tropical location, you can!  I will have a selection of things you can add to your pages.  The creativity is up to you!

Our main focus will be the Close to My Heart Daubers that are used on the turtle, starfish and seahorse. This is a simple and fun skill you can use on your future scrap pages.

It's a great opportunity to create a lifelong hobby, develop your creative skills and meet new people. This monthly group will determine the theme for July's scrap pages.

If you are interested in attending, send me an email @ pams334@gmail.com that you are coming and I will give you the address and directions if needed.

June Card Club

The June Card Club met yesterday. We had  a lot of fun.  We decided to meet next on Monday July 23rd at 1:00. Members requested a birthday and a thank you card.  In addition I will look for a folding card.

It's summertime and folks are busy. I wanted to start a scrap booking club but some folks wanted to wait until fall.

I may explore more on Studio J.  I like the idea of it's longevity and the clean look.  My 10 year old scrapbooks have not weathered well however; the Studio J pages are guaranteed to last a long time. This is nice when you are looking at creating a book to pass on to a child or grandchild. The background paper in Studio J are beautiful and not all feminine.  I say this because I live in a world of men.

I will post pictures of the cards we will make in July. You are welcome to join us if you are interested on the 23rd.  Just drop me an e mail if you'd like to join us and I'll have a spot reserved for you!

It's Stampaganza Time!

I almost forgot, June is "Stampaganza Month" at Close to My Heart.  If you buy 2 stamp sets, you get the 3rd free.  It's a great opportunity to purchase alphabet stamps.  I also have last years Fall and Winter Idea book for additional stamp set selections. Let me know if you would like to place an order pams334@gmail.com  or go to my CTMH website at    http://pamsmietana.ctmh.com

June 4, 2012 - Card Club Projects

Another week has come and is almost gone. I spent Memorial Day at Lake Billy Chinook cleaning our small modest cabin.  It was too cold and windy to go fishing or boating. The good thing is that it looks and smells better (not so dusty).

Today is my hubs and my 27th wedding anniversary.  We celebrated by having dinner at the North Dallas Bar and Grille. They've changed their menu and the food was really good tonight.

Now for the upcoming week.  The Card Club is meeting on Monday at 1 PM to make 3 cards and learn several new techniques. We will explore the water color pen and the spray pen.  Both techniques are used on the fish card. One of the members requested we work on a graduation card. I searched the CTMH website and YouTube and located an adorable graduation hat card.  As it is spring and usually there are many babies being born, we will be working on an adorable baby card. This card shown in pink can also be made in blue. This card uses the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge for the shape which the alligator is stamped. The pink flowers were also cut on the Cricut and then stamped.

I will be hosting a weekend afternoon scrap booking club this month. The theme will be "The Beach".  I will post a picture of the layouts once I've figured them out.  Saturday June 16th looks like a good date to host this gathering. I'll confirm this date once I check with the gals I know are interested in meeting along with an afternoon time.

If you are reading my blog and would like to join us, send me an email for location direction at:
pams334@gmail.com    I would love to have you join us.
